Pre and Post Care Advice

  • Please read the post care instructions that relate to your treatment prior to your procedure.
  • Avoid Alcohol and smoking for 24 hours
  • Schedule the procedure at least four weeks prior to a special occasion or event. Always enquire before booking if you are having a procedure prior to a special occasion as each procedure has differing down time.
  • Avoid taking anti-inflammatory medication (consult Doctor prior, if necessary).
  • Avoid treatment if you have active infections in the treatment area.
  • You must wait 4 weeks between having cosmetic injectables and major dental work.
  • You must be planning on staying in the local area post dermal filler for two weeks post treatment.
  • You must wait two weeks between getting covid/having a vaccination and having dermal filler, this is increased to 6 weeks if having a tetanus vaccination.
  • Do not rub or touch the treated area until the next morning. No facial treatments, laser or massage. This is to help avoid any complications.
  • It is recommended you do not lie down for the next 4-6 hours as you may inadvertently rub the treated areas. For the same reason you shouldn’t do strenuous exercise after treatment.
  • Avoid exposure to any heat treatments such as sauna, hot tub or tanning for up to 48 hours.
  • Paracetamol is recommended for any headaches or pain. Try to avoid medicines such as ibuprofen (Nurofen) or diclofenac (Voltaren) for the next 24 hours.
  • There is a small risk of bruising. If this occurs do not worry as it is temporary, its generally minor and can easily be covered up with makeup. Arnica tablets and Hirudoid cream helps reduce bruising.
  • Your treatment will take 4-7 days to start working. It may take 2 weeks to see the full results. If after 2 weeks, you feel that you still have more muscle movement than expected, then this can be adjusted at your post injection assessment, at an additional cost.
  • Please note, this can last up to 3 months.
  • Do not rub or touch the treated area until the next morning.
  • Do not consume alcohol for 24 hours after the treatment.
  • Try to avoid lying down or any strenuous exercise for 6 hours after treatment.
  • It is recommended to avoid extended exposure to sun or UV light and extreme hot or cold temperatures including hot drinks, if you’re lips have been treated. Avoid facial laser treatment to the treated area for up to four weeks.
  • For cheek augmentation it is recommended to avoid restrictive headwear, including goggles, sunglasses or motorcycle helmets for up to four weeks.
  • It is recommended not to apply make up to the treatment area until 12 hours post treatment.
  • There will be some swelling and bruising, however do not worry as it will only be temporary. Arnica tablets or Hirudoid cream can help reduce bruising.
  • You may feel lumps for up to 2 weeks, as your body adjusts to the new volume. If you can see any lumps and have concerns please contact your cosmetic Nurse or Doctor.
  • It may take 2 weeks to see the full results and we recommend to book in for a follow up injection assessment with your cosmetic Nurse or Doctor.
  • It is important to keep your skin well hydrated after the SkinPen procedure. Microneedling causes a temporary increase in water loss so keeping your skin hydrated and protected during this period will aide your recovery experience.

  • Apply a generous layer of LIFT HG after the SkinPen Precision procedure.

  • LIFT HG may be reapplied additionally the day of the procedure to assist with skin hydration. Reapply, as needed, up to 24 hours post-procedure or until the product is depleted.

  • Do not use any other products, including cleanser, on your skin within the first 24 hours post-procedure. Unexpected complications may occur when products not proven safe for use with microneedling are applied post-procedure. In lieu of cleansing your skin, you may rinse with cool water as needed.

  • Strictly avoid sun exposure the day of the procedure as you will not be wearing sunscreen. You may return to sunscreen use 24 hours following the procedure.Continue to minimise sun exposure for 72 hours post-procedure.

  • Avoid strenuous exercise or excessive perspiration for 72 hours post-procedure, as excess blood flow and sweat can cause discomfort and irritation to compromised skin.

  • Avoid using any active skincare topical products, such as retinoids, vitamin C etc., for the first week after the SkinPen Precision procedure to reduce risk of irritation.

  • Schedule your next SkinPen Precision appointment with your healthcare provider as recommended.

  • Contact your health care provider with any questions regarding the procedure.

  • Discontinue use of post-treatment products and call your doctor immediately if you have any concerns relating to your treatment response, or if you experience: 1. Signs of infection such as an increase in redness, warmth, itching, or pus formation, or 2. Allergic reactions to the test material(s). Rare allergic reactions can consist of severe contact dermatitis (rash) or itching, swelling, or difficulty breathing. This risk is increased for individuals with a history of allergies, and individuals with asthma and/or a history of hives, and itching.
